Who We Are

Welcome to the Party for People with Special Needs. (Parti pour les gens qui ont des besoins spéciaux) We are dedicated to advocating for the rights and diverse needs of disadvantaged individuals all across Canada.

We have run candidates in elections since our formation in 2007. Our mission is to foster positive change and bring attention to the personal issues faced by people with special needs in our community.

Sadly, in March 2020, our driving force and CFO, Mr. Dan King, passed away. It has taken us two years to rebuild and get back on track.

Mr. Lionel Wayne Poizner took over as the party's leader in March 2021. He has dedicated his life to continuing to build PPSN and carrying on Mr. King's legacy of understanding and compassion.

Mr. Poizner recognizes that many individuals with special needs are not being adequately represented by the government. He is committed to correcting the misconception that only people with conventional disabilities have special needs.

As the new President, CFO, and interim leader of the Party, Mr. Poizner is determined to ensure that all Canadians receive the special needs support and advocacy they require.

OUR MISSION: We are sworn to support every individual with special needs (whether physical, psychological, or financial) by empowering them to reach their fullest potential.

OUR VISION: We are dedicated to advocating for a better, more fruitful society, where everyone has access to education, employment, health-care, and happiness.

OUR GOAL: We are committed to representing all our constituents in government and providing top-notch education and health management resources, so that no one gets left behind.

A Home for All

Homelessness is a significant issue in Canada, with 35,000 people experiencing homelessness on any given night and an additional 450,000-900,000 considered "hidden" homeless (living temporarily with relatives, friends, or strangers without guaranteed housing). People with disabilities are disproportionately affected by homelessness, with up to 13% of them not even knowing where they will go to sleep tonight.
The main drivers of homelessness in Canada are the unsteady economy and housing market. With skyrocketing rental costs and a lack of affordable housing on the rise, many of the homeless individuals who seek government support find that it still is not enough to account for the local economic factors that continue to exacerbate the affordability gap.

By increasing the supply of housing and making it more affordable, the Party for People with Special Needs aims to address the root causes of homelessness. This will involve initiatives such as repurposing empty buildings, encouraging the conversion of excess rooms or basements into housing, and opening up construction in rural areas to build more apartments and low-cost housing.

PPSN's comprehensive 5-step plan to eliminate homelessness includes:

1. Raising awareness and highlighting the needs and challenges of the individuals experiencing homelessness.
2. Securing funding through private and public partnerships to support programs that address the root causes of homelessness.
3. Advocating for better use of tax dollars and reducing wasteful spending.
4. Influencing government policy and implementing programs that provide assistance to the homeless.
5. Continuously gathering data and evaluating program success to make regular adjustments for maximum impact.

No Hunger

Hunger is a significant issue in Canada, where nearly 10% of the population is living below the poverty line. In addition to the elderly, low-income households, and families on social assistance or disability-related support, hunger continues to have a profound impact on children and single parents. In 2021, almost 7 million Canadians, were forced to rely on food charities just to meet their basic needs.

It may be difficult to understand how hunger can exist in a country like Canada, with abundant natural resources, freshwater, and land. After all, Canada is also one of the largest exporters of agriculture and seafood. However, the root cause of hunger in our nation is not a lack of resources, but rather a chain of uncaring government policies that have negatively impacted the economy and left many of our neighbors struggling to afford basic necessities.

The Party for People with Special Needs recognizes the severity of this problem, and is committed to implementing policies that promote sustainable food systems to ensure all Canadians, particularly those with special needs, have access to nutritious food.

The Party For People With Special Needs (PPSN) is committed to solving the grievous problem of hunger. There is no excuse for so many children and elderly in Canada to be malnourished. This issue can be solved right now with commitment and common sense.

The PPSN's plan to alleviate hunger in Canada includes

- lowering taxes on essential food items
- improving access to home grown food
- reducing energy and fuel costs
- building community greenhouses
- teaching wellness education in schools
- funding food research

Furthermore, the party aims to reduce food waste by utilizing state of the art food recovery techniques, so that food is put back into the supply chain to feed more people and reduce the amount of waste going to landfills.

Help us raise awareness and put an end to hunger.

Affordable Fuel

Traffic congestion, high fuel costs, and unreliable public transportation are all familiar issues that many Canadians face on a daily basis. Despite being a first world country with abundant natural resources, the cost of transportation in Canada has risen dramatically in recent years. For example, the average cost of a liter of gas has increased by nearly 250% since 2001.

These rising costs have a significant impact on the economy, as they make it more expensive to transport goods and services across the country. Furthermore, many Canadians are struggling to afford the cost of owning their own vehicle, which can make it difficult to access goods and services in their communities.

The Party For People With Special Needs (PPSN) recognizes the problem and is committed to instituting solutions that will reduce the cost of transportation for all Canadians.

SOLUTIONS

PPSN is striving to reduce transportation costs by promoting legislation that will lower taxes and reduce regulations on fuel. Additionally, the party is working to improve public transportation through optimized bus routes, research into new affordable fuels, and the creation of separate infrastructure for alternate forms of mobility such as scooters, skateboards, wheelchairs, and bicycles.

Overall, the PPSN's comprehensive plan addresses the various components of the Canadian transportation problem, including education, government policies, and private industry. By implementing this plan, the party aims to reduce the cost of transportation in Ontario and improve the flow of goods and services across the province.

Small Business

Small businesses in Ontario are facing a number of challenges that are impacting their ability to survive and thrive. These challenges include closures as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, high costs for rent and staffing, and a lack of support from government. The current surge in the number of empty stores and warehouses is a direct result of so many small businesses struggling with severe staff and budget reductions.

The Party For People With Special Needs (PPSN) recognizes the scope of this problem and is committed to enacting policies that will solve it. As such, PPSN has created a viable and low-cost plan that addresses many of the challenges facing small businesses in Ontario.

This plan calls for the creation of programs and services in support of small businesses, representation of small business owners in government, and education and initiatives to encourage entrepreneurship. Additionally, the plan aims to support small businesses by lowering taxes, reducing regulations, and creating a more supportive environment.

The PPSN Small Business Growth Plan incorporates several key components, including:

1. Reducing the cost of education and promoting programs that build entrepreneurial skills in students.

2. Improving representation of small business owner interests at all levels of government, reducing red tape, increasing access to R&D funds, providing financial subsidies on government-backed loans to new startups, and reducing taxes.

3. Encouraging small business owners to invest in new technology and expand their businesses to offer increased services at lower costs.

4. Urging banks & insurance companies to provide small business owners with the banking services and assurance products they need to be competitive in their respective markets.

5. Ensuring that energy costs remain low and affordable in Canada so that small businesses can function and compete in world markets.

The PPSN plan aims to raise awareness about the issues facing small businesses in Ontario and encourages cooperation among all stakeholders to work together to help small businesses recover and thrive.

President, CFO

As the President and Chief Financial Officer of the Party For People With Special Needs, I extend a warm welcome to you. I am a proud Canadian who grew up in Toronto and have a background in engineering, logistics, transportation, quality control, and computer science.

I had the opportunity to expand my knowledge and experience in the field of politics during the June 2018 election, when I was invited to be a candidate for a local party. This experience opened my eyes to the various needs of our residents and the potential for positive change that improved government policies will bring about.

At PPSN, we are passionately dedicated to making this change happen. Everything we do is centered around supporting our friends, family, and community members with special needs. I invite you to join us in this effort. Thank you for taking the time to read this message and for your continued support of special needs community.
